Israel is currently conducting airstrikes on Hizbullah military sites in Beirut and its southern suburbs. Due to the ongoing tension between Israel and Iran, neighboring countries have closed their airspace. As a result, airlines are having to find alternative routes to avoid the conflict.
Eurocontrol, a Plan-European air traffic control agency, has alerted the pilots about the increasing dispute. Recently, a major missile attack was launched against Israel. The entire country is currently under a missile warning. Shortly afterward, it declared the shutdown of Jordanian and Iraqi airspace, as well as a critical crossing point into Cyprus-controlled territory.
The Baghdad-based airspace was shut down by the government, keeping the security of the passengers in mind. Later, Iraq opened its airspace for civilian use. Jordan also reopened its airspace following a closure caused by Iranian missiles fired at Israel, according to the Jordanian state news agency.
On Tuesday, Lebanon's air traffic will remain closed for two hours. Many renowned airlines, including Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, and Lufthansa, operating in the Gulf have rerouted their flights to ensure the safety of the passengers. According to the airline's data, almost 80 flights were diverted to Cario and European cities on Tuesday.
Due to the shutdown of many airspaces in various parts of the Middle East, Etihad Airways Changed the Route of several flights. The airline said it has been keeping an eye on the situation and monitoring security.
Emirates Airlines has canceled all of its flights that were scheduled to and from Iran, Iraq, and Jordan to ensure the safety of the passengers. The airline has said they are continuously taking updates on the situation for the time Emirates Airlines Change Route that was earlier scheduled in these areas. The airline will open its operation in the affected area as soon as the situation becomes normal.
The airspace in the affected area of Iran and its neighboring area has been forced to close. As a result, Qatar Airways has suspended all its flights in Iraq and Iran. On Tuesday, Lufthansa Airlines announced that it had extended the suspension of its flights to Beirut and Tel Aviv due to the current situation in these areas. Flight service has been suspended in Beirut until 30 November, while Lufthansa will resume flights to Tel Aviv after 30 October. Further, the flight which was scheduled for Tehran will remain closed until 14 October. The airline concluded by stating, that Deutsche Lufthansa changed the routes and schedules of the flights that were scheduled to cross these lands.
The Lufthansa Group, which includes Swiss Air, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines have repeatedly changed their flight schedule in recent months as a result of heightened Middle Eastern tensions, as have other airlines.
